Gemstones & Healing: Diamonds
Since this is the Holiday season, I felt it was a gift to give you information on Diamond. This gemstone could double for the “star” that led the three magi to Mary, Joseph and the baby Jesus. So it is with this intent that I hope Diamond may ‘lead’ you to something within you that is helpful and improves you in some small or large way. Happy Holidays!
CATALOGING THE GEMS
I evaluate a gemstone in a number of ways. First, it falls into one of these categories: Heart Stone, Grounding Stone, Guard Dog Stone, High Energy Stone, Trauma Stone, Mental Stone, Stress Tone, Luck Stone, Psychic Stone, Money Stone, Arthritis Stone and Master Healer Stone. I created this system over the years because each stone has unique skills. Some, like the Master Stones, are diverse, multi-skilled and affect more than one chakra in our aura. With this blog, we’re going to look at Diamond. It is a “Psychic’s” stone, “Heart” stone, “Trauma” stone and a “Master Healer” stone.
HEART STONES
This these gems that can help support you with problems of a a heart and emotional nature. These gems are utilized in situations such as: Grief, breaking up a relationship, a divorce, loss of a loved one,
loss of a pet, moving and leaving your friends or family, getting fired from a job, losing your house to a flood/earthquake, are but a few examples. People who, on a more spiritual level who are wanting to work in their heart chakra should consider a “heart stone” helper. These gemstones can open up an emotionally closed down person (repression/suppression). A heart stone can help them be more sensitive to themselves and to others. It moves narcissistic people toward concern and compassion for others, rather than just focused on their own needs. These heart gemstones help us “emote.” For those who have suppressed or repressed wounds that surround love, being loved, or not loved, also fall under this category. Anything to do with our heart; whether it is learning to love ourselves, love others, loving our enemies, learning the difference between pity, sympathy and compassion, these stone helpers can support you. Diamond does not allow grief to be shuttered away deep inside us. In fact, it performs the opposite energy–it shovels out the grief so we can express it and work through it. Better out, than in. Grief that is suppressed will end up, one day if we’re not careful, becoming toxic and we get a disease out of it.
PSYCHIC’S STONE
Diamond has a long and honored mystical and ancient past. A Psychic Stone is one that helps you to listen to your intuition or hunches. In some cases, it can make a person clairvoyant, but the other indicators have to be there first. This is a stone that helps people who are usually not listening to their own inner ‘voice,’ get in touch with it via the stone’s help and support. It is also good to wear it while meditating, because it will deepen it. Because of the high refraction quality (the shiny quality) of Diamond, it acts like a reflection.
TRAUMA STONE
Every person encounters trauma in their life. It’s just a question of when and what shape it takes form to shake us up. Trauma is especially harmful to our Adrenal glands. When a sudden accident, an assault, a near loss of life, a war torn situation, or any other major tragedy, our cortisol levels shoot sky high. The only problem is if the trauma is ongoing (as in rape and incest, as examples), cortisol levels get “stuck” and there is a cascade of events that take place after that. No gemstone I know can lower a cortisol level. What you need to do if you have been in a life-changing trauma, is seek out a Functional Medicine physician. Their website is: http://www.functionalmedicine.org/findfmphysician/index.asp. Get you cortisol levels checked. There are ways to lower it back to normal. Trauma may include PTSD, post traumatic stress disorder. You can have a ‘war’ in your dysfunctional family that you had to survive for eighteen years of your life, or you went to another type of ‘war’ in Afghanistan or Iraq, as another example.
Trauma stones can help assist us in dealing with every day living while living with the ‘hell’ inside ourselves caused by high cortisol levels. The gemstone can equalize the playing field from the standpoint that it aids us in knowing what’s going on inside of us and that we don’t want to harm others outside of us with whatever feelings of anxiety, anger or fear that we’re wrestling with. It can help us make the right choice and not over react with others. And that’s an important step in harnessing this awful ‘storm’ that occurs because of PTSD inside us. Diamond has a phenomenal ability to mirror or reflect our wounds from within us to our outer and conscious world. And the first step in healing is knowing where you are wounded so you can do something healthy to fix it. Diamond are known as “blood stones,” and nowhere is this more true than in Africa, where they are mined.
THE HISTORY OF DIAMOND
Diamonds are the best known gemstone in the world today. In ancient times, rubies were the King. But now, Diamond is the Queen. This gemstone can boast it is the hardest gem in the world at a Mohs scale of 10. No other stone can tout that number. Talk about tough. And their refractive index of 2.417-2.419. To appreciate this information, light travels at 186,282 miles per second. That is considered the base refractive index of 1.00. And when light strikes a Diamond, it is going 77,056 miles per second! Only Cubic Zirconia, a lab grown simulant and is synthetic, is brighter at 2.14-2.20. So, it’s not fair to compare a man-made diamond against a REAL diamond made by Mom Nature. Diamond is the hardest stone and the most brilliant stone of all.
The word Diamond is derived from the Greek word, “Adamas,” which means “unconquerable.” The Greeks knew even back then, that Diamonds were as strong as they come. And beautiful. And hardy. Diamonds are made from carbon, one of the commonest of Earth’s elements. They were formed by powerful extremes of pressure and temperature. Talk about walking in the heat of the furnace. And it is from these clues that we know Diamond is a unique gemstone among all others. None are a 10 in hardness. None can match the refractive index brilliance of Diamond. It is not only a beacon of light, but it has durability, strength and endurance to match.
Diamonds have an incredible birthing journey. About ninety miles beneath the crust of the Earth is where Diamonds are formed. It takes a temperature of 1200 degrees Celsius, along with incredible pressure for long periods of time in order to create them. Interestingly, Diamonds have been found to grow larger beneath the oceanic crust. When formed, inorganic and organic carbon will be found in them. If inorganic carbon is found in them, they are called a harzburgitic Diamond. Eclogitic Diamonds means they were formed by organic carbon pushed down from the surface deep into the Earth. Diamonds are thought to be older than most other gemstones. Assessment is that they range from 1 to 3.3 billion years of age.
But this isn’t the end of Diamond’s story. Micro diamonds have been found where meteors have struck the earth. Here is a photo of one from the German meteorite, Ries noerdlinger.
Here again, it is a high impact/pressure and temperature event. Diamonds form as a result. Another more common way Diamonds were formed was in volcanic pipes. These pipes are found below small surface volcanic craters. The material is brought from deep within the Earth upwards toward the surface, yet it never erupted. Magma does NOT contain the Diamonds. Instead, magma transports the rocks and materials bearing the Diamonds to the surface. You could say that volcanic pipes contain Diamonds.
A secondary source of Diamonds has been found in glacial deposits. They are not found in large numbers and aren’t considered a commercial source. Tectonic plates colliding is also another possible area of Diamond creation. Another place to find Diamond is in alluvial areas. This is a river terrace gravel that has been transported from their original location (usually a kimberlite deposit). The largest alluvial Diamond deposit is found in Namibia Desert in southwestern Africa along the Orange River. These placer Diamonds are between 40 to 80 million years old.
Lest alluvial Diamonds be sniffed at, two of Angola’s largest came from such a deposit. One was 105.9k and the other 101.8k. That’s some serious bling!
Diamonds, thus far, are found in twenty countries of the world. Major players are found in Australia, Zaire, Russia, South Africa and Botswana.
In the USA, we have Crater of Diamonds State Park in Arkansas. There’s approximately 37 acres that is plowed a couple of times a week. And Diamonds of all colors and sizes pop to the surface in rough form. Check it out at this website. It’s a great way to spend a vacation. Who knows? You could find a diamond there to pay for it all. Best of all, you keep what you find! How’s that for a great deal?
It was these conditions that caused deposits of Carbon to begin to crystallize deep in the earth. As the earth’s surface cooled, volcanic activity forced streams of magna (liquid rock) to the surface, carrying with it the diamond crystals. Later, the diamond-bearing rock hardened, encasing the diamonds in vertical volcanic “pipes”.
The structure of Diamond gives it properties of being the hardest substance known to man–natural or synthetic. That’s saying a lot. Diamond is a thousands of times harder than corundum (rubies and sapphires). That’s why a Diamond can be worn for decades and its sharp planes and facets never wear down or wear away. And it doesn’t chip, either.
There are many colors to diamond besides the transparent “white” diamond we all know and love. It is the queen of Diamond color in the world today. They come in light to fuschia or raspberry red-pink color. In a 1989 Christie’s auction in NYC, a 3.14 carat Argyle Mine/Australia pink diamond sold privately for $1,510,000. This mine has sold pink diamonds for up to one million dollars a carat.
Pink diamonds are very rare. Pink in the human anatomy system is a combination of the Root chakra (red) located at the base of our spine and the Crown chakra (white) located at the top of our head. Combine red with white and you get pink. The Heart chakra is the balance between the Crown and the Root chakra. That is why pink is always associated with love and compassion because these are heart qualities.
“Champagne” colored diamonds are from a light straw yellow to a rich cognac gold-brown color. At one time, any color of diamond, other than ‘white’ was considered trash. It wasn’t until the last thirty years that strong advertising efforts and some pretty good creativity to haul these ‘junk’ diamonds out of the trash and give them equal footing with the white one, has occurred. For example, ‘brown’ diamonds (of which there are many more of than any other color) were routinely sold to manufacturing to be used in hard work–and never worn as a diamond ring, bracelet or necklace. However, just of late, some smart advertising executive thought up “chocolate” diamonds and now, they are proving to be remarkably popular. They have gone from the trash heap to the top of the heap in a couple of years! Change the name, and they shall buy!
Then, there are true “yellow” diamonds. They range from very pale, light yellow to a vibrant canary yellow.
These are highly limited and unlike its brown diamond cousin, these are quite rare….and quite beautiful.
There are orange Diamonds, although they are very, very rare. And therefore, very, very expensive. Orange color is found at the Argyle diamond mine is situated in the Kimberley region in the far north of Western Australia. It is the world’s largest single producer of diamonds. The Kimberley region is very hot in climate, with an average temperature of over 40°C during the wet season (from October to March).
Just about everyone knows about blue Diamonds. Who hasn’t heard of the ill fated Hope Diamond that now resides in the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, DC? They range from a sky blue color to a very dark blue color that is reminiscent of a blue sapphire coloration. Blues are pretty rare too….much more so than the ever popular white Diamond.
Few people are aware of green Diamonds. Unfortunately, the green color is usually removed in the faceting process. And therefore, it becomes very rare. Fancy green diamonds are also available. Usually, penetration of the color is not very deep and is often removed during the fashioning of the stone.
Purple diamonds have just been recentled discovered at the Ekomiak V property in James Bay, Quebec, Canada. A batch of 649 diamonds were harvested in the region, nine of which were purple. The diamonds were recovered from 18 surface rock samples, and are estimated to be about 2.7 billion years old. Needless to say, this will color will be in high demand. But the price, because of the color rarity, is going to equal that.
Synthetic moissanite is a diamond simulant. It’s well advertised and marketed. Naturally occurring
Moissanite was first identified in of all places, a meteor crater! The natural Moissanite is very, very rare. Nowadays you can count that it is synthetic and made from silicon carbide, not coming from carbon at all.
Another synthetic Diamond is Cubic Zirconia. It has a higher refractive (sparkle) rate than real Diamond. And a heck of a lot less expensive and can sure give you the ‘bling effect.’
Black diamonds are around, but again, quite rare. Carbonado diamonds are typically pea-sized or larger porous aggregates of many tiny black crystals. Found in the Central African Republic and in Brazil, in neither place associated with kimberlite, the source of typical gem diamonds. Lead isotope analyses have been interpreted as documenting crystallization of carbonados about 3 billion years ago. The carbonados are found in younger sedimentary rocks.
Here is a black diamond. They come from a sedimentary source and have a Mohs hardness of 10 just like diamonds that come from different geological areas. Black is the color of the woman’s womb where all creativity and birthing occurs. Black, then, is our creativity found within our unconscious part of ourselves. A literal treasure chest of skills and talents to be tapped.
Another type of Diamond that Diamond giant, DeBeers, among others, would like to go away are called BLOOD DIAMONDS. There was a movie made on just this problem. Diamonds are mined in a war zone to finance the insurgency, buy weapons to kill people. After Blood Diamonds started gaining traction with the world, many people wanted to know WHERE their diamond they were buying, came from. This resulted in the diamond giants doing something about it. And it’s always good to ask where your diamond originated from. Because some slip through to this day.
FAMOUS DIAMONDS
No other gemstone, except for perhaps rubies, has such a fascinating story and past. Let’s look at them and learn, because this is all part of the energy expression of Diamond.
The Victoria Transvall is a a yellow-brown diamonds (known as “champagne” colored diamonds). It is 67.89 carats. It was found in Transvaal, South Africa. The first cutting on it produced a 75 carat diamond with 116 facets. Later is was recut to make it more brilliant. Every time you facet you are shaving off part of the diamond. This necklace has been featured in a Tarzan episode in 1952. The necklace was owned by Leonard and Victoria Wilkinson but in 1977 they gave it to the Smithsonian Institute.
The Star of Africa
The Star of Africa at 530.20 carats the Cullinan I or Star Africa diamond is the largest cut diamond in the world. Pear-shaped, with 74 facets, it is set in the Royal Scepter (kept with the other Crown Jewels in the Tower of London).
The Koh-i-Noor Diamond
The Koh i Noor, once the largest known diamond in the world, was seized from India in 1849 and presented to Queen Victoria. Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mother) wore the crown in 1937 after the coronation of King George. David Cameron refuses to return Koh i Noor diamond to India.
The Moussaieff Red Diamond
The Moussaieff Red Diamond is a diamond measuring 5. 11 carats (1. 022 g) with a triangular brilliant
cut sometimes called a trillion or a trilliant cut, rated in color as Fancy Red by the Gemological Institute of America. Although this may seem relatively small when compared to other famous diamonds, in fact, the Moussaieff Red is the largest Fancy Red the GIA reports having value. The price can reach up to $ 7 million.
Red diamonds are relatively rare, too. This is the red energy run by the Root chakra. It is responsible for us staying grounded and in our body.
The Heart of Eternity: Blue Diamond Heart
This diamond is in a very rare class of colored diamonds. The Heart of Eternity is the measure of diamonds 27. 64 carats or 5. 528 g. The Heart of Eternity was cut by the Steinmetz Group, with a diamond before selling to the De Beers Group. It was found in the Premier Diamond Mine in South Africa. The price of this diamond is about $ 16 million.
The Wittelsbach Diamond
Wittelsbach Diamond is also known as Der Blaue Wittelsbacher is 35.56 carat (7.11 g) blue diamond with VS 2 clarity that has been appreciated by the nobility of Europe for centuries. It has become part of both the Austrian and Bavarian crown jewels. Color and clarity has been compared with the Hope Diamond. The price of this diamond is about $ 16.4 million.
The Steinmetz Pink Diamond
The Steinmetz Pink is displayed as part of the Smithsonian’s “The Splendor of Diamonds” exhibition. The Steinmetz Pink is the diamond weighing 59.60 carat with 11. 92 gr., given a color as Fancy Vivid Pink by the Gemological Institute of America. The Steinmetz Pink is the largest known diamond has been given Vivid Pink. The price of this diamond is about $25 million.
The Centenary Diamond – De Beers
The Centenary Diamond was unveiled in final form May 1991. The Centenary Diamond ‘D levels’ were classified on the basis of color by the Gemological Institute of America. “D class” is the highest grade a diamond that is colorless and internally and externally flawless. De Beers Centenary Diamond, at 273.85 carat (54. 77 g), is the third largest diamond has been produced in the Premier Mine. The price of this diamond is about $ 100 million. It is featured as the first diamond in this blog.
The Hope Diamond
The hope diamond is a large, 45.52 carat with 9.10 grams, the location is in the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. The price of this diamond is about $350 million.
The Cullinan Diamond
The Cullinan diamond is now mounted on the head with sticks Cross, and is the largest rough gem-quality diamond ever found, at 3,106,75 carat with 621.35 g. Polishing stones from the largest gems named Cullinan I or Star Africa First, and at 530.2 carats (106.0g). The price of this diamond is about $400 million.
DIAMOND HISTORY
Some 3,000 years ago, in India, Diamonds were recorded. They were used as adornment but also as a talisman to protect them from evil or in to be kept safe during a battle. St. Hildegarde, in the Dark Ages, wrote that if a Diamond were held in the hand while making the sign of the cross, one would be cured. The gem was also crushed and ingested by those rich ones in hopes of curing their ailments, as well. Pope Clement, believing her, tried the treatment but was not successful.
In the Middle Ages, Diamonds were regarded for their spiritual and mystical powers rather than as jewelry up to a point. And miners who mined them were lied to by their owners. They were told if they swallowed a diamond in the mine, they would die. This was an attempt to stop stones from being smuggled out of the mine. And it was at this time that Diamonds surged to European awareness.
As the Diamond mines of India dwindled, small mines were found in Borneo and Brazil. But they did not meet the public appetite. In the 19th century, Diamonds were found near Orange River in South Africa. It sparked the world’s largest Diamond rush. About the same time, Diamonds were discovered in Australia. Today, Diamonds are the top selling gemstone in the world.
ASTROLOGY RULER
Saturn is about TIME. And it took Diamonds that kind of time, billions of years, to make. Talk about hard work! And Saturn is the god of absolute peer authority and hones people (and stones) into peerless, tough, resilient beings. Diamond is all of those attributes.
Saturn rules Diamond. I’m sure most astrologers would assign it Venus. No other gem takes on this luminary quite as well as it does. When you consider that Saturn is the final weight and say in our lives, he is the one that toughens us up and strengthens us through the heat and pressure of life. As we get older, we gain strength and toughness–just like a Diamond. The course is the same for humans as it is the gem. Don’t forget that Saturn gives us coal but it is ourselves who make it into a Diamond over time, responsibility and ongoing effort. The high refraction creates a glowing inner quality. There is more to this, however. Diamond, when worn, brings out our emotional vulnerability. In fact, for people who wear ‘armor’ so that no one knows what they are feeling emotionally, Diamond can dissolve these walls over time. The magic of Diamond is that it can make a person feel safe while remaining vulnerable.
Many people who are ‘hard’ or armored up feel emotionally threatened either in the environment where they grew up (family), live now or work. Or, all the above. Diamond can allow a person to feel and share their emotions with others and still feel safe while doing it. Saturn rules the ‘bones’ of the Earth. That is, all the rock on it. Symbolically rock equals bones. And Saturn can bring us to the highest pinnacle of spirituality if we do the hard work. Diamond reflects (pardon the pun) this achievement and mastery of spirit over the physical vehicle, too. There is no other gem in the world like Diamond. It is the pinnacle, the Mt. Everest, if you will, for all of us to aspire to climb. Or, symbolically speaking, bettering ourselves as a human being to become so spiritually perfected so that we no longer have to have incarnations on this Earth any more. We move into the rarefied atmosphere of the master where we can “shine” our heart centered compassion as a teacher or a guide to help others graduate from this Earth school as well.
Diamond has always been the gem of brilliance and light. Indeed, the hard abrasiveness of Saturn “shines” our soul with each lifetime. The object and goal is to perfect ourselves into a spiritual being who is heart centered, compassionate and turns around to help others along this same ardous path. This is the very definition of Saturn–put in the hard work, no matter how abrasive, it polishes one’s soul until literally, it shines like a white, transparent diamond.
ASTROLOGY TRANSITS AND PROGRESSIONS WITH DIAMOND
The transits of Saturn to our chart are every 7, 14, 28 years. When Saturnian progression occur, it is good to wear Diamond. When it is in hard aspect with another of your natal planets, this is where the abrasive (pain/suffering) qualities start to polish our soul to a new level of transformation into a better individual. Wearing Diamond at these times can help us orient our inner knowing via our heart to trod this path faster and better. Indeed, Diamond is a way shower as no other because it is the “light” of the universe shining like a flashlight to help us see where we’re going. Further, by perceiving, which is Diamond’s greatest gift to us, it is like a lantern burning brightly deep within our psyche, showing us the ways and avoiding many of the pitfalls.
NORTH DIRECTION
North energy is earth energy. It is the Earth. The bones of the Earth are the rocks. It is ruled by the great white Buffalo. North direction is about plodding forward, step-by-step toward one’s goal. There is practicality, common sense and hard work here. This is also the direction of physical manifestation, the place where dreams do come true–with a lot of consistently hard work, discipline and organization. The earth energy is about being completely grounded and in your body at all times. Gemstones that reflect this energy aren’t flashy, well known or wanted by the vast majority of the population. It’s the shy kid in the back of the classroom. However, for sheer honesty, being responsible, reliable, on time and doing the right thing, nothing beats the North direction energy. Diamond is such a gem radiating all of these qualities of the North.
HOW TO WEAR A DIAMOND
Because Diamond is a master healer, that means it works in many ways and with all of our chakras. It has the kind of breadth and depth. Further, Diamond comes in rainbow colors and there is one to match every chakra in the human body. Diamond can be worn by anyone who is willing to do the hard work, being responsible, consistent and disciplined (just like Saturn). It is a long-range vision gemstone and for those who have such a vision, Diamond is the perfect friend to accompay you on your journey.
WHO SHOULDN’T WEAR A DIAMOND?
Diamond is one of those gems for all occasions. If a person is too emotional, Diamond can help even things out so that the person uses her/his mental capacity to balance out those emotions. However, the wearer has to know that by wearing Diamond, you will be working. It’s not an idle stone. It vibrates at too high a frequency to be in neutral.
SPIRITUAL CONSIDERATIONS
Diamond holds androgynous energy. It helps with masculine and feminine energies. It’s very important when it comes to intetgrating the two energies within us. It is connected with the Crown chakra, but because it is a master healer, it can work all seven of our chakras. This is why those who love Diamonds or have a passion for them, can find support by wearing one. The Blood Diamonds are working with the Root chakra, as an example. Those who are jealous or envious, are working out of the Navel chakra. Those who are arrogant and think they know it all work out of the Solar Plexus. Those who have life lesson with and through love work with the Heart chakra. A person who persuades others is dealing with the Throat chakra. Someone who has the ‘sight’ (clairvoyance) is working with the Brow chakra. Finally, the Crown chakra, which is Diamond’s true throne of action, is there to pull one’s spirit upward and improve upon it and you.
I want to talk about the crown chakra. For most people, they see Diamond as a class above others. And indeed, physically, that is true. Diamond has fueled wars, hatred, greed and destroyed nations. Many people work with Diamond at the Root and Navel chakra level only. There are some, however, who are drawn powerfully to Diamond who want to pursue a spiritual life woven within their worldly life. I’m not talking religion here. Rather, that inner part of ourselves, our core, is something everyone owns. Whether we want to activate it and learn to use our internal radar or not, is up to each person. Diamond, when used with the goodness of one’s heart, can help us climb into our upper chakras, the throat, brow and crown. And that’s a powerful statement to make about a gemstone.
Diamond, then, becomes the inner light that illuminates you. It can be the flashlight that spotlights you on every level, from your wounds to your wellness. Diamond possesses an impersonal light for us to follow and fully investigate ourselves. And if we are of such desire, for Diamond starts with a “d” for this reason, it can shows us the brilliance of the other worlds and dimensions.
Alas, the main component of Diamond is desire. It’s brilliant facets reflect ourselves for exactly where we are at. If we use Diamond to feel above the ‘trash’ of the world, that’s where it operates. If we are nationalistic and we see Diamond as something that belongs in the treasury of that country, it will be so. If we are poor and our desire is to be rich, Diamond can drive us in many different ways to achieve that status–rightly or wrongly. This is where Blood Diamonds come into play. If we have always wanted a Diamond, and can’t think to live without ever having one, it will work at this level. The question then is: what are you going to deny others or give up in order to get this gemstone? Will you do the right away and not take food out of your children’s mouths? Or not? Diamond reflects not oly our higher but lower urges. It takes no sides and there is no judgement. If we are a thief, we will steal it. Or even to murder to take it from another.
This is why Diamond is such a powerful stone. It’s ability to reflect exactly where we are at, is intensified times ten. And knowing this, we want to work WITH this gemstone at a certain level. What are our desires? Are they healthy? Unhealthy? Diamond, because of its dispassionate energy and intense laser focus can send us into a maelstrom of challenges to work in the desire area we may or may not want to move into. The Saturn-like karma of Diamond plays out powerfully here on this chessboard of life with individuals drawn to Diamond. Because it is the queen of gemstones, a master healer, it’s a tough taskmaster, just like Saturn. It takes no prisoners.
When you make a pact with this gemstone, it’s serious business. It is an all or nothing contract. It demands the most out of you. It can drive you toward sainthood (crown chakra) or becoming murderer (root chakra). There is simply no give or take with Diamond. It’s the toughest path to take and has the hardest demands of us at every level. When you look into the brilliance of a Diamond it is demanding the very same from you. Do you see y our own light shining? Is it bright and focused? Or desulatory and weak? Are we at that brilliant level? Do we know how to turn inward to ourselves to search for and find this powerful light within? And like anything that is seen as “powerful” in this world of ours, Diamond is at the top of this fragile heap of human ambition and dreams. You will shatter before a Diamond does. And sometimes it requires a breakdown so you can have a breakthrough.
Consider Diamond’s refracting ability; the highest in the world in natural gemstones. Diamond is a beacon. Ask yourself what beacon are you pursuing? What is your vision? Your dreams? Are you willing to roll up your sleeves, endure the heat and stress in order to become it? If you are, then you are truly a Diamond in the rough. You work with this gemstone energy and it’s going to draw highly pressurized situations into your life to toughen and strengthen you from within. That way, you will reach the pinnacle of the vision you have for yourself.
This is the confusion about Diamond for some people. They are drawn to it but don’t know why. Their Soul knows. But they are unconscious about that desire. If you look at the great Diamonds throughout history, none of them have fairy tale endings. Most have very morbid or unhappy ones, instead. Diamond simply requires our BEST. And like the Marine Corps saying, “A few good men,” (we can replace ‘men’ with “humans”) many are called, but few can actually handle the pressure of transformation that Diamond asks of us to to get there. And if we can’t give it, we may get dragged through many hard lessons from the other chakras until we begin to get those rough, hard edges of ourselves polished off with the grit of life. And the polishing process is long and hard. If one can stand the ‘heat in the kitchen,’ of their life, then they will become more Diamond-like.
You’ve met these type of people, too. They are Diamonds or lights in our world. They are able to shine a light on something about yourself and you get it. The light goes on within your awareness. You awaken. Their brilliance is a catalyst in some way for you, on some level. It can be a word, or an action. You can see their brilliance and it doesn’t mean they’re geniuses (although they can be). These people have a laser-like ability to see you CLEARLY without distraction or judgement. When you look at a white diamond, you see the many dimensions of our Universe. You see forever. You look into eternity. And so do they. When a person is operating on all their chakras, including their Crown, the Kundalini has risen. It is the cosmic fire that moves up our spine, up and out of our Crown. We then plug into the cosmos, the all knowing mind of goddess/god. This person become all-knowing on so many different levels simultaneously. Their job, then, is to walk into your life and be the catalyst to turn on your own inner light and ‘aha!’
Once a Diamond person has mirrored what you are capable of doing, this will give you a new set of spiritual orders to work upon for a long, long time. And if you have the commitment–the passion–the desire–you will make it. You will deepen your knowledge of yourself on some level you hadn’t before. Diamond people can be a stranger on the street, a parent, a teacher, a friend. True Diamond people who work only for their own highest good and yours, are never arrogant. They are, instead, humble and self-effacing. They are not braggarts. No do they see themselves as anything but another struggling human being on this Earth. That is the true Diamond person.
And if you are called to be a better human being by Diamond person, it won’t be easy. But if you can take the light that it shines and work with it and grow because of it, then facet by facet of your personality will become polished over many decades. And at a certain point in your spiritual growth, you can turn around and be that light for others. It’s a beautiful path, but like Diamond, the hardest of all. Yet, to be able to shine from within and utilize it outward to hand other people light to better themselves, is gratifying and humbling.
And for those of you reading this, and who ardently love this one-of-a-kind gemstone, consider that you are all lights in the darkness of our world. Turn and look into yourselves. Where do you cast your light? How do you catalyze another? For surely, you do. If you love Diamond, then you are one; even if you consider yourself rough and unpolished. Diamond has incredible insight, thanks to the work of the Crown chakra. They see THROUGH people, through their antics, tricks and delusions. They perceive the light of God/Goddess within every one and every thing. There is no judgment with a Diamond person who is on a high spiritual path. They merely observe. They make wonderful therapists and psychologists/psychiatrists, counselors and teachers. They are driven to turn on the light in others.
Diamond energy has the capacity to make ourselves into a better human being and to connect us to the cosmos.
Some Diamond people are fully aware of who and what they are. But many are not. They serve their family, their friends and neighborhood, but that is all. And that’s quite enough. One doesn’t have to be famous to be a light for other people who are caught in the dark. Help begins at home and where you live. Very frequently, you will see Diamond people volunteering. You’ll find them bring food to a mission, or in the line serving those who need that food. They donate money to their favorite organization to lift other people. Their greatest joy is the desire to raise the human condition upward so that some day, there will be no more starvation, war, rape, murder or denigration of human beings. They have this intractable vision of a future that is at peace and that every person is VALUED. And Diamond people are very good at valuing themselves and knowing what they bring to the table. That is why they are among us ablaze with their knowledge with the light of the Cosmos pouring through them.
With this understanding about Diamond, let’s look at the crown chakra because that is its strongest one.

2. Unhealthy archetype: The Guru
UNHEALTHY CROWN CHAKRA
Does not have a connection with Mother Earth (and is environmentally incorrect)
Damages the earth with pollution of any and all types without regard to the future generations or what it is doing to the Earth as a sentient being
Sees self and actions as individual and refuses to be responsible and realize that every thought and action does have ramifications on other people and this planet
Small minded
Places her/his will over and on everyone; willful and driven
The Ego is the entire foundation of this individual; its strength
Devotion to self only; narcissistic/Egotistical
Shallowness of personality
Focus is on external, outer world; does not plumb the depths of Self–ever
Feels “Man” is lord over all; no sense of connectedness or respect of the world, the environment or anything else
Hung up on status, age (looks), gender (men are stronger and smarter), money (more is better), clothes worn (designer labels, of course), upbringing, university attended, and very snobbish
Sees themselves as a label and not an individual
Extremely class conscious and looks down on others if “below” them in status
Life is meaningless and has no purpose
No faith in Spirit (God/Goddess)
Fears loss of identity during crisis in consciousness; clings and is afraid and blames others for its precarious present state of mental/emotional/spiritual instability
Considers emotions as a sign of weakness
Doesn’t hang around people who aren’t perfect like s/he is
Believes they are solely responsible
Feels that they completely control their lives in every aspect
Egotistical about one’s spiritual path; sets themselves up as the “answer person” for Spirit. A fraudulent person who passes themselves off as a master, guru, or having ALL the answers (they have none)
Self-important

A false prophet
Tries to bargain with God/Goddess in prayer
Pray for THINGS; instead of using prayer as a daily appreciation

Free spirit and sees self as in complete control of their life and lifestyle
Proud
Considers themselves separate from God/Goddess; sees no connection between mysticism and reality
Lives in the world of “Maya” or illusions
Assign themselves a label of who they are and refuse to change it
HEALTHY CROWN CHAKRA
Able to shift from a religious group to an individualized quest for Spirit within Self (this does not infer the person shouldn’t be in an organized religion; they may be, but they still listen to their own “drummer” and do their thing, their way to achieve union with Spirit)
Never asks “why”–the word does not exist in this person’s vocabulary; they simply absorb the experience knowing that understanding of it will reveal itself at the correct time for their spiritual growth
Has a disciplined meditation practice
When confronted with small minded people, you become a clear conduit for Spirit to come through and make life better; living your life with Divine purpose, an instrument of Spirit for light
Understands that each of us is conduit through which Spirit will work, if we allow it
Respect and sacredness toward all of Life
Joy and happiness permeate their being as never before; it is constant and beautiful
When fears arise that threaten this person’s identity, they will release their fear and walk toward the unknown with the faith of Spirit in their heart; profound trust in this shift of consciousness
Devotion to Spirit, to Self, to others; there is an overwhelming passion to be a light, a role model, to show the way for others in the way Spirit wants each of us to do
Never seeks outer power; rather to empower self from within
Understands intuitively that the ‘dark night of the soul’ must be walked through and surrenders Self over to Spirit with trust, faith and devotion
Willing to empower yourself fully as an individual
Understands that the crisis is within Self, not outside because of a person, issue or thing doing it to them; all storms come from within

Searches deeply within Self to ask what purpose their life is in the here and now
Life is full of richly textured meaning every moment, with every breath
Releasing our Ego identification
Moving into the “flow” of constant synchronicity
Lives by the Golden Rule; do unto others as they will to you
Does not define self by labels, class, socioeconomic factor or any external “label”. Is happy to be themselves, warts and all.
Honors the walk and path of all people and does not try to fix or change them; rather, influences others by simply being themselves in every day life
Understands that our individual spiritual path makes us humble and walked with humility
Is whole brained, utilizes both hemispheres
COMMENTS
We all work off the crown chakra, more or less. If it was truly closed and shut down, we would be dead, so understand that you are in training to become one with Spirit at all times.
People who are ‘self-made’ or who will their will on life and others, who believe they are the source of power for the heights they aspire or do climb to, aren’t working much off this chakra.
Sometimes, the quiet, inner person, who appears serene and unaffected by our frantic rat-race pace and existence, is accessing this chakra much more. For them, there is no need to be putting up Ego walls or facades or masks. They are serene in being themselves. Their life is an interior one, not an outer one, although they do participate fully in the third dimensional existence simultaneously.
Anyone who has ever had a Kundalini experience has felt the Oneness with Spirit; that overwhelming love that surrounds us and tells us we are much loved just the way we are in our imperfection as a human being. These feelings and sense of connectedness to Source is overwhelming and we feel the unmitigated joy, peace and sacredness of all. And we are a part of that all. Once you have had such an experience, you have tapped into your Guru archetype; your inner guru….the one who can guide us, and has the answers we need to get back to Spirit and leave the separation behind.
A person who accessing this chakra feels the profound sacredness of all life around them; it is palpable. They understand they are part of this magnificent rainbow fabric called “life” and move with a flow of love that keeps on in a constant state of bliss as a result.
Anyone who loves Nature, is strongly drawn to Mother Earth, who recognizes their responsibility to be a good citizen to her, is on the crown chakra path. Energy is in every living thing, whether organic or inorganic. When we begin to realize we are all related, and that what we think, feel and do, does have a resonance with everything and every one else, a shift within us has occurred and we move more deeply onto that path back to the state of Oneness.
Every person has the guru archetype within them; not just a few. God/Goddess has given us the ability to integrate and to close the separation to come back to them. What is wonderful is that we have our own internal toolbox in which we can put out what we need to do this.
IN SUMMATION….
Diamond is like no other stone on our Earth. It stands out and is the hardest and the brightest of all natural gems. They come in an amazing range of colors, but not orange. One day, some sharp marketing and advertising executive will find a way to make black diamonds the ‘in’ diamond. Just as now, once ignored brown diamonds were sent to manufacturing only, are now “chocolate” diamonds and the newest/latest rage. There are people like Diamond here on our Earth and we should be grateful for their keen, laser-like insights, which are simply stunning and amazing. They can peer through the murk of our glass, darkly, and see the good, see the rough gem of ourselves and know how to get us to polish those rough edges to help us pull ourselves up by our own bootstraps.
The color of a diamond is important. I want to discuss them here.
PINK DIAMONDS bring in the play of the Root, Heart and Crown Chakra. They come in a range from barely pink to dark pink. The Root is red and the Crown is white. When you combine these two colors, they meet at the Heart Chakra. And so this Diamond deals with these three chakras. It is about harnessing one’s passion and allowing it to drive you for a lifetime. It is about pursuing the qualities of Compassion. You find many philanthropists, volunteers and people in organizations who help the poor around the world who love this color of Diamond. Closer to home, it is about learning about the many qualities of love, with compassion being the highest one. The person may go through a number of heartbreaks, several marriages because they are on that hard path of learning about love. Or, they can come from the highest chakra, the Crown, and be a teacher amongst us.
WHITE DIAMONDS have already been written about, above, so nothing more need be said about them.
GREEN DIAMONDS are all about the heart and crown chakra. There are two colors assigned for the heart: pink and green. The green is about being a healer first, for yourself and then a healer for others. It may mean a life as a hospice worker, a nurse or a doctor. Or the health or service oriented fields. Where ever people need help and support, you will be there. Most of all this is truly a journey of learning Compassion with a capital “C.” I find people who desire a green diamond above all others is on a higher heart path than someone who prefers pink Diamonds. Green is the pure color run energetically through the heart. It is all about healing–inside and out. And the people you touch are healed by you whether you realize it or not.
YELLOW DIAMONDS takes in the Crown chakra combined with the Solar Plexus chakra. People desiring this color of Diamond are all about finding out how to be an individual. It’s about learning to separate one’s self from the herd mentality and perspective. Carl Jung’s Individuation process is something you should read because you are in the process. It takes a lot to break away from the spouse or parents who say, “You should be this or that,” instead of listening more deeply to yourself for that information. It is breaking away from parent expectations and fulfilling your own expectations, instead. In other words, you will have a life filled with discovery and you will allow those events to polish and shape you so that in your fifties and sixties, you will shine as an individual. That is your path this lifetime.
RED DIAMONDS There are some around, but they are quite rare. This is the Root Chakra combined with the Crown Chakra. The person desiring this color of Diamond is going to have family issues that they must work through and release. The Root chakra is the tribe. Nowadays, that equates to your family. The Root chakra is about our ‘roots’ quite literally. By finding out about our genetic roots, we find out more about ourselves and our possibilities. And, learning that you are not the family, rather, an individual in the family. Frequently, family skeletons in the closet are put upon your shoulders. Will you wear it or shrug it off to become yourself?
ORANGE DIAMONDS These are so very, very rare that even most collectors have not seen one. And because of this, they are very, very expensive. Orange correlates with the Navel or Sacral (second) chakra. This is located in our abdomen. And in women, it is the seat of the womb and creation. It is about relating and relations with family and friends. This is home for all of us, regardless of gender. Someone who was passionate about an orange Diamond will have very powerful family ties that will never break. It’s also the gemstone of pregnancy, motherhood and crohnhood.
BLUE DIAMONDS This is a combination of the Throat (blue energy) and Crown chakra. This is the gateway to the higher chakra functions, one’s spirituality and yearning for that Oneness that supports our vision. On a more mundane level, it is about speaking, communicating and giving forth information in some way. You could be a writer, a teacher, a lecturer or writing songs. There are many ways to communicate and it can include painting as well. This is the position of clairaudience and high psychic skills.
PURPLE DIAMONDS This stone works with our Brow chakra (third eye) and our Crown chakra. Here is an energy that helps the wearer to perceive as well as ‘see’ with their physical eyes. Clairvoyance is strong, the intuition sharp and this individual is someone who can see straight through a situation or person. When used for its highest good, this is a spiritual teacher, a catalyst, a shaman or healer. They will often write books, do Ipod presentations, lecturer and teach. They like to communicate how they see the world and how it can be improved for everyone. There’s a great humbleness that comes with this position.
BLACK DIAMONDS Black is the color of a woman’s womb. It is the fertile darkness of potential. Black, then, is about the contents of our unconscious. It contains all the skills, talents and knowledge that we need for an incarnation. Black Diamond is about reaching into the treasure chest of the unknown and bringing it to consciousness to be used.
