Nearly all rocks on Earth contain quartz crystal, and Earth’s mantle is composed of rocks. These are mostly igneous and metamorphic, with a small percentage being of a sedimentary type. Quartz is well known to be piezoelectric, that is, it gives off an electrical charge.
