Part 3: Spirit Guides – Your “Safe Place” and How to Meet Your Guides

SAFE PLACE TECHNIQUE
- Find a quiet place, preferably a room with a door that can be locked. Tell your family you will be unavailable for one hour. Tell them not to disturb you unless it is a life-and-death emergency. The most important aspect of this technique is complete quiet and isolation. There must be no animals in the immediate area in or around your locked room. These precautions prevent any upset to your aura (the egg-shaped electromagnetic energy that surrounds everyone). Auric interruptions can cause physical discomfort for several hours afterward, and a feeling that all is not right. You live in the 3rd dimension (3D). When you journey to your Safe Place you are in the 4th dimension (4D). The right hemisphere of the brain has the capacity to open up the “valve” so that you can journey. Most people will find they may be “rusty,” and have to try this technique several times, so don’t be discouraged.
- Silence your phone and lower the blinds to shut out direct sunlight. You should have no music on of any kind, and be sure the windows are closed to filter out neighborhood noise. The more noise, the more distraction, and the less you will be able to fully focus.
- Be sure to wear comfortable, loose clothing. Take your shoes off, and put on a pair of socks if you’re prone to cold feet. Remove belts or scarves around the waist or neck. If you do yoga, your yoga clothes, mat and towel are perfect for this. Sit or lie down somewhere comfortable. Place an eye mask or scarf across your eyes to block out light. You can also cover yourself with a blanket.
I lay down on my carpeted floor with a pillow beneath my head and a second pillow beneath my knees to avoid strain on my lower back. Then, I drape a black silk scarf across my eyes to get the right level of darkness I want. If it is winter, I cover myself with a soft, warm blanket.
- Let me emphasize again—no animals should be in the room—not even a bird in a birdcage.
FINDING YOUR SAFE PLACE
You are now ready to go to your Safe Place.
- Close your eyes.
- Take a deep breath in through your nose and out through your mouth. Take each breath as deep as you can into your abdomen. Do this slowly, three times, releasing the air.
This technique switches the focus to the right hemisphere of your brain where all the psychic “valves” are located.
- Visualize a set of silver tree roots winding gently around your ankles several times and then see the root tips moving down through your feet (you will feel no pain) and deep, deep into Mother Earth.
- Picture your favorite type of tree with a squirrel hole in it. This hole is large enough for you to leap into and dive down, head first, toward the bottom of the tree. You will automatically shrink to fit in it, so don’t worry. At the count of three, you will find yourself going through this hole in the tree. One….two….three….
- You are now inside the tree. Feel its warmth and support around your body. You are now going to see yourself “dive” down toward the roots, much like a diver diving off a board. At the count of three, you will find yourself moving easily around and down the tree trunk and into her root system. One….two….three….
- Look around and choose one of the large, main roots you see before you. Any root you choose will be the “right” one. At the count of three, you will find yourself going down into this large tree root. You will automatically shrink to fit into the root and won’t get stuck. One….two….three….
- Continue to follow through this tree route on your downward course. No matter how small it gets, you will continue to reduce in size and be able to easily move forward. You will not get stuck. As you move more deeply into the tree root, you will see a dim light ahead of you. Move toward this light.
- Continue to move through the dark tree root. Sometimes it may twist or turn, always moving in a downward direction. The light is brighter now as you approach it. Continue to move forward toward the light.
- You are now very close to the light. It’s time for you to stand up. In front of you is a door. Take a good look at this door and memorize its features. Try to remember the shape, color and material from which it’s made. If there are carvings, paintings, or symbols on it of any kind, remember them as well.
This is the door to your Safe Place. At the count of three, open the door and walk into your Safe Place. Just grip the handle and push the door open…. One….two….three….
- Once you are inside your Safe Place, turn around and firmly close the door behind you. Now, slowly turn around and look down at your feet. What are you wearing? Often, in our Safe Place, we choose a specific costume that we feel comfortable wearing when we visit here. Move your gaze upward from your feet, up your legs to your knees. Then, continue your upward inspection of your upper legs, hips and waist. Now, hold your hands out in front of you. Look at them. Are you wearing anything on your hands such as rings or bracelets? If so, memorize these, too. Now, I want you to look up….up….up, and gaze around your Safe Place.
- Your Safe Place is special, and is just for you. Look around you. Is it daytime or nighttime? Do you see grass? Trees? Flowers? Or are you in a building of some sort? If you are in a building, look closely at what is inside it. Where are the windows? What do you see when you look out of them? If you are in a meadow, look around. What do you see? Then, look up at the sky. Are there clouds in it or not? Are you standing in sunlight? Moonlight? There are no two Safe Places that are alike. Whatever yours looks like, is just for you.
- I want you to feel the warmth of the temperature around you. Is there a breeze blowing? Do you feel the sun warm on your skin? Once you have looked around and you are comfortable, I want you to call your Chief Guide to you.
- The Chief Guide (I shorten this to CG) is one of your main guides in spirit form who is your teacher, and who loves you. I want you to telepathically call out humbly: “Chief Guide, please come to me!” Then, be patient and wait for a response. The Guide may come in visible form, or you may feel but not see this guide. The guide may appear as an insect, reptile, bird, fish or animal—or even something you’ve never seen before. Expect nothing, receive everything. Whatever comes to you is okay. Wait a minute see if the guide appears or you feel its presence.
- If the guide does not come, call again: “Chief Guide, please come to me!” Wait another minute. Sometimes the Guide will enter on the third call, so be patient with the process.
- If the Guide does not come, call a third time: “Chief Guide, please come to me!” Wait another minute.
- When the guide comes to you, there are several questions you must ask for this one time only. Afterward, you never need ask these questions again. The first thing you do is ask for a name. Thank him/her/it for coming, being grateful and reverent toward this guide. Simply say, “May I please have your name?” The Guide must give it to you right away. If not, send them away and tell them: “You are not my Chief Guide. Thank you for coming, but please go away,” and start the call for your CG all over again.
- When the guide gives you his or her name, ask: “What will you do for me?” You must be satisfied with the answer they give you. Of course, if you have called your Chief Guide to you, you want to hear that this guide is going to assist you in a positive, healthy healing, guiding manner.
- When you are satisfied, ask the Chief Guide, “Do you have a message for me?”
- When the Chief Guide responds, listen carefully. If you have questions, ask for answers. If you are sick, ask for a healing. Also, ask what you can do to help heal yourself. The Chief Guide is there to assist you in any way possible. We all have wounds. Ask your CG to help you with one of them. Or, ask the CG how you can turn a present weakness into a strength.
- When you are finished communicating with your Chief Guide, thank her or him for coming. I’m sure you will want to hug them as much as they will want to hug you good-bye until you return to your Safe Place once again.
- Walk back to the door you came through earlier. Open it, turn around and close it. Make sure it is shut. You will now dive upward, moving forward through the same root you came down on. One….two….three….
- It will get darker and darker. Again, you will find yourself supported and warm as you move upward in a mini-version of yourself. You may twist and turn like a roller coaster as you go toward the tree’s main trunk once again. Continue upward.
- When you arrive at the bottom of the tree, stand up. You will now be in the center of the tree trunk where you originally started. As you look up, you will see the squirrel hole that you originally came through. At the count of three, you will go through the hole in the tree. As you do, you will leap down and be on solid ground outside the tree. One….two….three…
- Now, rest for a moment. Keep your eyes closed and feel the heavy weight returning to your body. This is a nice, warm, comforting feeling. I want you to slowly take a deep breath in through your nose and blow it out through your mouth. Do this three times.
- Now, slowly open your eyes. Wriggle your toes and flex your fingers a little. Get used to being back in the “here and now,” and back inside your body. Once you feel like it, slowly sit up. You might be a bit dizzy, so just sit there and relax. It may take five minutes to really feel fully back in your body. In the meantime, you should have your journal and pen nearby to start writing down what you saw, smelled, tasted, or heard.
AFTER THE JOURNEY
Going to your Safe Place is something you should do at least twice a week, if possible. Always journal your experience right afterward; otherwise, you will forget a lot of the details or conversations. If you try this method and it does not work, do it again once a day, until it does. Some people have their psychic equipment in the right brain “loosened up” and “oiled” and they will be able to go to their Safe Place the very first time they try it. Many others do not, so don’t be disappointed if it doesn’t happen right away. In some cases, I’ve seen people try daily for a month before they are successful. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else.
Usually, ten percent of people will be unable to access their Safe Place the first time. Sometimes, it takes three tries or more. Therefore, you have to “imagine” this happening. The world of the imagination has now been confirmed by physicists, so if you need to imagine this then go ahead. Eventually, perhaps over a week’s time of doing it daily, you will get to your Safe Place. We are all different and our pace is our own. Honor it.
OTHER ITEMS TO REMEMBER….
Never tell anyone the NAME of your Chief Guide. The reason for keeping the names of all your guides confidential is that if a sorcerer hears a name or names, they can call your guides to them….and they will use them against their will precisely because they does have their names. The names of your spirit guides and CG are sacred and must never be revealed to anyone.
Always keep a journal and pen or something to write on, after you come out of your Safe Place session. Because you are in 4D, the untrained mind has a tough time remembering everything. Don’t wait hours to jot down what was said or conversed about. It should be less than fifteen minutes after you return to 3D. Write down everything you can remember. Don’t be frustrated if you remember very little. When going to the Safe Place, you are inter-dimensional and the brain has not “trained up,” to do this. The more you go to it, however, the more the brain will fall in and you’ll begin to remember more and more.
Many people, after being in their Safe Place, will have dream(s) that night or the next night, so pay particular attention to them and jot them down in your journal with the date and time (if you notice it) on each dream.
Never discuss your Safe Place with people at large. To speak of some of the most important, personal information is to deflate the energy of it. Sometimes, you must hold a secret and by doing that, it keeps its energy and support for you. No one EVER brags about what or who you spoke with, or what you spoke about. Bragging or speaking about the Safe Place to others, is a sign of immaturity. Working in 4D is not a human foible that is easily tolerated by your CG. You will have to mature and be responsible and reliable in every way. I have seen people who become locked out and unable to enter that space again if they choose to be irresponsible toward the sacred.
