Soil Color Means Something: How is it Affecting You?
Mother Earth has a painter’s palette of incredible colors available for her to use. For example, I live sixteen miles south of Sedona near what is known as the Red Rocks of Sedona which is actually sedimentary kinds of rock. Millions of years ago, this area was covered with a shallow, ancient ocean. Because the rocks were sandstone and limestone or gypsum, the water carved out caves, buttes, hills and canyons. Sedimentary rocks are the weakest of all types of rock found on Earth. And because of this, fresh or salt water can wear them down and carve them into amazing shapes.
The forms that exist today are a deep red color, indicating that there is high levels of iron in the sandstone layer. There is also a lot of white limestone in the same area. If you have the Walking the Land Worksheet (you can download for free here), then you would go to the GEOLOGY section on page 3 of that form. There are a lot of questions and I’ll put one of them here so you can grasp how important color is in the surrounding landscape where you live, and how it energetically impacts you 24/7/365. If you have a copy of my book, WALKING THE LAND by Eileen Nauman, the information below is found in Chapter 6 and 7 of the book. The chakra system mentioned can be found in Appendix H at the back of the book.
GEOLOGY
What is the geology (See: Walking the Land, Chapter 6, Land Masses; and Chapter 7, Rock Colors & Types)?
- What is the geology of the area where you are walking?
- Sedimentary (old ocean area)?
- Igneous (volcanic/lava/basalt)?
- Metamorphic (rocks formed under pressure)?
- What is the PRIMARY geology of the area?
- Any secondary geology?
- Or are all three types of geology represented?
- What is the color(s) of the rocks, cliffs, buttes, mountains? Red, black, or brown indicates feminine energy. White indicates male energy. Gray is androgynous (male-
female energy are integrated into one another as one). - What is the primary color of the land mass?
- What is the secondary color(s) of the land mass? Any other color found in the rocks refers to a chakra in the human aura (Appendix H: The Chakra System).
- Type of soil? Sand, clay, loam (mix of silt, clay and sand), chalky, peat (high in organic matter) or silt?
- Color of soil? It can be ANY color. Or a multiple of colors. Is there a connection color-wise between chakras of the human and soil color?
If you don’t know the answer to these questions, all you need to do is call up or visit the county office where you live. They will have a geologist or someone in the office, who can help you answer these questions about the colors/landscape/type of landmass/rock type and soil color and type, that you have in your back yard.
The colors have a direct one-to-one with the chakra energy system of our human body. And these assignments are in this section, also:
Chakra colors: red (iron): root chakra, orange (sacral/naval chakra), yellow (solar plexus chakra), green (heart chakra), blue (throat chakra), indigo/purple (brow chakra), gold/white (crown chakra)
If you want to start out simply, go outside your home and look at the color of the soil beneath your feet. I know a lot of people always assume soil is brown colored. But depending upon where you live, it can be a different color.
In my case, if I go outside my home, I am standing on RED soil. It is clay. And it is red, red, red. Those who live in the southern United States also have a lot of RED soil in their area.
Red is the color of the Root Chakra (it is situated at the base of our tailbone). Consider our seven chakras as “energy centers.” It is a Sanskrit word that means “wheel.” Sometimes a chakra is compared to a flower with petals, turning either clockwise or counterclockwise. Each chakra has a role to play in our everyday life and it’s chief “job” is to spin in a circle and draw in “prana” or life-giving energy that is all around us and our universe, to “feed” the other energy bodies that surround us and are known collectively as an “Aura.” By feeding us this unseen energy, it keeps us alive. It’s that important.
Everything has an aura, so it’s not “special” to human beings. Butterflies have it. Snakes have it. Rocks, each one, has its own aura, too. Water has it, clouds have it….anything you can think of, has an aura of energy around it. Our aura is composed of fields (you might think of this symbolically like a rainbow that has layers of different colors). The root chakra energy flows into our first energy body, the ETHERIC body. They are connected to one another. The Etheric field fits very tightly around our physical body. It is usually around 2-8 inches in width. And it is the major defense body that keeps viruses, infections, and ‘bugs’ from getting to and infecting our physical body, as well as keeping our immune system strong.
People living in red soil areas, depending upon how functional their root chakra is, will also absorb the energy of the iron-laden soil and it will be pulled into our Etheric body and “fed” that energy as well. This strengthens our immune system, among many other duties that are too long to go into in this article. You can Google: Root Chakra definition and find a lot of information about it.
My experience is that the color of the soil is working energy-wise, with one of our chakras. Each chakra is defined in many ways. A good beginner’s source of definitions of each one and its color can be found here.
Red soil can be caused by iron-bearing minerals of Ferrihydrite, Hematite or lepidocrocite minerals in it. Root Chakra.
Orange soil is also caused by by iron-bearing minerals of Ferrihydrite, Hematite or lepidocrocite minerals in it. Orange is a combination of red and yellow. You might look at the Root chakra definition (red) and the Solar Plexus chakra (yellow), and then the Sacral/Navel chakra which is orange. All three of these will have specific energy that may assist and support you. Sacral/Navel Chakra.
Green soil and/or sand is caused by the present of the mineral, Glauconite. You would look at the Solar Plexus chakra (Yellow) and the Throat Chakra (blue). When you mix yellow with blue, you get green. Both will apply to you. Heart Chakra.
Purple, violet or lavender colored soil is due to the presence of Manganese oxide. The more of it there is, the soil may be many hues of lavender to violet, purple and if enough of the mineral is in the soil, may be black. Brow Chakra.
Pink soil can also be due to the alkalinity of it being pH of 7.0 or higher. You would look at the definition of the Root chakra (red) and the Crown chakra (white). If you paint, you know that if you mix a bit of red in white, it turns pink. Read both because both will apply to you and your heart chakra. Another color of the Heart chakra.
Blue or purple-blue colored soil is due to a pH of 6 and 7. Or the mineral iron sulfide can alter pyrite that is ground down and part of the soil, which will give the soil a metallic blue coloration. Throat Chakra
White soil occurs when calcite, dolomite or gypsum minerals who are present and is usually found in arid or desert regions, but sometimes in other climates, as well. Crown Chakra.
Yellow soil is due to the the mineral Goethite in it. Solar Plexus Chakra.
Color consists of a spectrum vibration and it is expressed as energy. And whatever the energy, it directly affects our aura. Especially if it is the soil color. People have likes and dislikes. Or a sense that something is good for them, or not. Ideally, you would like to live in an area where the soil color “feels good” to you. It means there is vibrational compatibility between your auric energy and the land that surrounds you.
Here where I live, we see people who want to come and live in the Sedona and Red Rock Area. But you know what happens? Nearly all of them leave within six months of arriving….the RED color is just too much for them to deal with! And it’s NOT compatible with the vibration of their aura with the land.
The people who stay here in the Sedona area? They have an auric energy vibration that not only feels compatible with them, but it GIVES THEM ENERGY! Think about that. The color of the soil can either take away or give you more of the energy for your own use and expression. Since soil is the one element that we have a lot of where ever we live, find out if it’s supporting you, your dreams and goals, or it’s not.
