Walking the Land: Grassy Knolls with Ramona Stites

Since mid-January and now I realize even before that time I have been having an experience with rainbow energy and serpent energy.
The first event that I recall is just before my mother died in January on the 18th, 2009. It was about 4 or more prior when one evening I was lying in bed and I heard (I “hear” my guidance as one way of receiving psychic info) a voice telling me that she was my grandmother and that she was bring me the rainbow medicine. I immediately though it must be my great grandmother, who was apparently Cherokee Indian, but I am not certain of that, just that I was communicating with some kind of great grandmother energy. I saw a rainbow arch and felt certain that I was receiving some kind of ancestral gift.
I also had an experience at my niece’s home. She is a voice channel. We were
sitting in her living room talking about my mother – her grandmother. We had
drawn a tarot card and my husband Richard said. This card is about the new
generation, about the breaking of old patterns. My niece, Terri Newlon and
I both felt a surge of energy go upward and I saw what looked like a DNA
strand. I am not sure this is a related event, but since it was like a
Kundalini Energy I felt like it was noteworthy.
My friend Eileen Nauman came to my home a few days before my mom passed and
gave me some Christmas gifts. I had been traveling and just gotten home.
One of the gifts was a bracelet of rainbow colors. I was very happy to
receive it and have worn it often.
A few days after my mother passed, I was looking through some pictures of
her. I had a hard time finding any photos of her as she hated to be
photographed. I found one of her sitting and reading holding a rainbow mug.
I knew that was the picture I wanted in a frame nearby me.
Eileen had invited me to go on an outing with her and Mary
Reinstra, an interfaith minister. I felt in too much grief to go. Instead I went the next day to my artist’s studio and quickly drew out a sketch. It had a rainbow element and
what looked like some kind of portal. In the next days I began to lay out
the painting on canvas. That painting wanted to be named Rebirth. I thought
it was about my mother’s passing.
Eileen dropped by the gallery one day and we were talking about her
experience at Rainbow Bridge. After she told me about her experience I took her to the studio and showed her the layout of the painting I had begun. She immediately recognized the painting as the sipapu or emergence hole of the rainbow serpent.
Here is the finished painting Eileen saw while I was working on it in my studio at Javadog Gallery in Cottonwood, AZ. She was stunned when she saw it and immediately recognized WHAT it was about. I had no idea of her and Marty’s earlier expeditions or that the Rainbow Snake had appeared at Rainbow Bridge. She filled me in.
I went onto finish the painting that week. When I was painting the ring area
around the portal I felt moved to use a certain color combination as I often
do with my work. Color is the keystone to my paintings. Sometimes I feel
like that color doesn’t seem appropriate, but I try to follow the guidance I
am given. Later when I looked up on the internet the rainbow snake I saw why
I was instructed thus. Certain varieties of the rainbow snake looked much like the ring area that encompassed the portal. The snake was emerging from the hole.
After that I wondered if there would be more paintings. Many time when I paint it is in series and one flows from the next. I would like to note that these paintings are not what I usually paint in terms of subject matter. I am a contemporary landscape artist and I also to abstracts that sometimes are about states of being or internal energy events, such as the chakras, but to an untrained eye are just colorful pieces of art. At any rate, within two days I had another two paintings that were presented to me.
The second image in the series I titled, As Above, So Below.
Here is my second painting that had been started and would, after our hike on 3.3.09, mimic the painting exactly.
It features two portals.
One appears in a blue sky and the other in a night sky. They have rainbow elements to them and each one felt like it was for a different event. The painting is divided by two parts by a rainbow dotted line that could
represent the snake. When that piece first showed itself to me it took on a rainbow spiraling out into a vortex. I told my guides that I would need some help painting that and they reveal the next stages for the final piece. The third painting that is only in the drawn stage has a circular area where energy is radiating out to create a pyramidal shape. That will be my next painted piece.
Here is the sketch. And see how much it parallels Eileen’s view of the Rainbow Snake and the colors coming out of her mouth and each one going to the specific chakra located on Grassy Knolls. Please see Eileen’s color sketch of what she saw down below my commentary and you’ll see that we were both contacting this energy. The parallels are stunning because neither Eileen or I discussed it between one another beforehand.
Upon looking back through my sketches up to a three-year period, I had sketches that directly represented the snake energy. Some of the recent pieces in my gallery reflect imagery having to do with eggs and linear features that could be interpreted as the rainbow snake.
This sketch by Ramona Stites was from 2004! Already, she was picking up on the coming energy to be released by the Rainbow Kachina Snake in Rainbow Bridge!
Here is another of Ramona’s paintings the eggs in the tunnel that Eileen discovered in the Sun Circle just below Rainbow Bridge on January 16, 2009. This painting was created by Ramona two years earlier!
One recent sketch looked like a bird head combination animal head. The image looked much like one I later saw on the internet that was an art piece representing the Aboriginal Rainbow Serpent. One March 3rd I was scheduled to go with Eileen and Marty to Grassy Knolls to look around and see what we might find there. I was a little nervous about going. I knew that Eileen was going in to do her shamanic work and I didn’t
really know how comfortable I would be in the group. Earlier that day I was driving to Sedona for a doctor’s visit. As I drove I noticed a snake shaped cloud dominating the horizon.
After the appointment, I drove over to Page Springs and parked at the top of Eileen’s road to wait for her. As I waited an entire clan of Ravens flew over. There were at least fifteen of them. I felt obliged to say “Hello” to them as they flew over. Eileen and I took her car and went on up the hill to Sedona. We found the highway littered with some debris. Eileen stopped and picked it up and threw it off the highway. There were four coffee machines that had flown off a truck and landed in the highway. The glass carafes were smashed except for one that was still whole and sitting in the road. We were on guard from that point on. We knew we had to look in a different way than usual. That glass carafe looked like black asphalt until Eileen almost stepped on it. She did not see it because it blended in so well with the pavement. Eileen understood the message: On Grassy Knolls we had to change our perceptions of how we looked at things to see those other circles.
When we got to Grassy Knolls Eileen did a blessing and we offered gifts of bird seed. I felt that this was going to be a powerful day. Marty felt moved to play her flute. I listened and then we started to enter the path. I stopped and Eileen asked me if I felt moved to sing. I said “Yes.” I had told her earlier that I enjoyed chanting and singing when I painted and that sometimes very unusual things came out during that process. Song and words that were foreign to me. I have always been very private about it since most
people would see it as the act of a crazy person. I had never sung like this in front of anyone before.
I stepped back to the where we had given our blessing and opened my mouth, not knowing what I was going to sing. The result startled me as a stream of foreign words with a powerful melody issued from my lips. I sobbed after the singing stopped. Eileen said that she recognized the foreign language as Tibetan monks singing in chant in the very low alto and base tones. We had a two-hundred-year-old Bon Po shaman drum, Tibetan bells and my Tibetan chant. It was going to be a Tibetan day.
We entered the path and came to the first circle (root chakra). I could tell where it was and visually knew its boundaries, but was following Eileen’s lead as she was the seasoned land walker. Marty seemed to know her way around too and waited for their cues. I asked my guidance if I could enter and was told “No. After.” Eileen had walked the circle I was then allowed to enter. There we found places to be. I felt moved to kneel as I felt I was entering into a sacred energy space. Marty fluted, Eileen drummed and I found myself humming and toning. We created a harmonious sound and when Eileen’s drumming ended it
was as though a switch had been flipped and we all just stopped. It sounded like the perfect end to the song. I was still reeling from the first song that had issued from me and was not able to make much observation for the first two circles (navel chakra), except that I could sense their boundaries and feel their power.
When we arrived at the third Circle (solar plexus chakra), there was an entry way prickly pear that
felt like a road sign. It was pointing in several directions, one of which was behind us away from the third circle. I motioned to Eileen that direction silently. She nodded and said there was something up here that she was trying to understand. She discovered that we were at two circles that formed a figure eight shape.
Upon entering the third Circle I was drawn to kneel again and right in front of me was a rock with a perfect moon shape (about quarter moon) lying on its back. It had sort of a pink background and then an off white behind that. Now that I look back on it, it looked kind of like a smile. Eileen was drumming and Marty started to flute. I felt very light and happy energy here and I heard that it was the Circle of Children. I hummed along with the flute very lightly and felt the energy there was like a bird song.
At the fourth circle (heart chakra) I felt moved to hum in very low tone. I felt the need to stand directly in front of a cactus that laid in a long line and be very rooted to the earth, as if the energy was flowing beneath me. I felt an energy current above ground that moved back and forth in a linear fashion. I
allowed my body movements to reflect that energy. I also sense that the energy here was stuck and had a pressure in the heart chakra and as we played and toned the energy began to smooth out. My toning at this place reflected what I felt to be a rumble in the earth. I also noticed that a stream of rainbow energy was going over the top of the pyramid shaped rock that we could see nearby.
Ramona, on the right, and Marty on the left, are studying a cactus in the center of one of the heart chakra circle. Ramona is the one who notes its north-south linear growth. It is pointing, quite literally, at the throat chakra directly above it and also locates the solar plexus chakra below it. After we stopped our music, Eileen called us over to look at a stone, asking us what we saw in it. I saw something that looked like a portal – not surprising since I paint them, but wasn’t sure what it was although it looked familiar. Marty said she saw a whale and I then saw that too, but still wasn’t feeling like that’s what it really was symbolizing. Then Eileen pointed out an opening at the bottom of the shape and I said, “Kiva” to her. She nodded. I did a rough sketch of the shape as it might stimulate more info later.
As I left this circle I looked down and saw a stone “light up.” It was a butterfly.
Next stop was the fifth Circle and I knew that this would be powerful, coming
from the throat chakra. Because I create art and love to write and do
singing/toning I have had allot of focus on the throat chakra. In that
circle I had a sort of chant issue from me and I felt very alive. The energy
in my throat felt heavy and then cleared as I sang and Marty and Eileen
played their instruments. When we finished I fell down on my rear and
laughed. It felt great! I felt a little drunk with the energy flowing
through my body. I did see a rock below me as I sang that lit up with a
little green turtle with a turquoise fleck on its back. I now realize that
Marty left a turquoise chip at the last Circle (brow chakra) and that she had a turtle
knapsack on her back.
At the Brow Chakra Circle there was an awesome rock right in the center that
looked had three line coming from a point. The energy here felt less stuck.
I was fairly quite here and enjoyed just being there. I did hear it was the “Circle of the Watchers” and I experienced seeing rainbow energy flow from my third eye area. I also felt moved to some body movement as we worked.
The last Circle (crown chakra) was open and had a feeling of openness and light. It was
quite peaceful there. After doing ceremony in the Circle we all sat on the
ground and talked a little about our experience. As I glazed at the pyramid
shaped rock which felt as if it stood guard over this and other areas, I
thought back to my latest sketch of the circle of energy that had rainbows
coming off it to create a triangle. I felt sure this is what I had been
seeing. I felt very happy and at peace as we sat there talking. I am not
even sure what all this is about, but I was very glad to be part of it.
Ramona takes down sketches of her psychic impressions of a given chakra. You can see how Pyramid Peak, the guardian of this area, is right in line with the chakras on the slope.
It really brought me to the realization that I want to do more toning and chanting. We were the instruments to clear the energy in those circles and I also felt like my energy centers were cleansed in the process. Whatever, happened up there, the end result felt very good.
Pyramid Peak symbolizes the triangle that seems to be with us no matter what we do. It too, is a triangle shape.
I know that Marty found some great rocks up there too. A bird for one and a brow chakra. It was interesting to see that we all had our own signs and symbols that came up. Her flute playing and bell chiming and percussion was wonderful to hear as was the deep voice of Eileen’s drum. I hope to walk with these ladies in the wilderness again soon.

COMMENTARY BY EILEEN NAUMAN….CONTINUATION:
Hi Everyone
I’m not an artist…so I’ll start there :-). But, I would like to share some rough paintings I’ve done. The first is:
This drawing is in three sections because it was too big for the scanner, so you’ll have to piecemeal this together in your head. My sketch one is of the upper right quadrant. This show the Rainbow Snake kachina in her bright, feathery headdress. Each color of the feathers symbolizes the color of a chakra. As we moved into a chakra, the color for it shot out of the snake’s mouth and surrounded us.
This is the upper left quadrant of the sketch. That is Pyramid Peak. I saw the Rainbow snake come out of her sipapu or Emergence at Rainbow Bridge when we began our ceremony in the root chakra. This painting is an attempt to show the color that shot out of the kachina snake’s mouth and encircle the chakra we were working in. The ‘feathers’ on her head were beautiful, alive and glowing but I’m not that great of an artist to be able to depict that. I hope you get the idea, though.
This is part 3, the lower part of the sketch I made. This is supposed to represent each chakra circle with the energy turning and spinning as the snake sent the color from her mouth into that circle on the slope.
